Learn more about Mail Production
General Information
The Mail Production center provides University departments with assistance in the design and preparation of their outgoing mailings. We offer folding, inserting, tabbing, inkjet addressing, labeling, address standardization and certification, mail merge and letter printing services at reduced rates, often lower than off-campus mailing service providers. Please feel free to contact us at 491-6142 to see how we may assist you with your mailing needs.
All mailings should be scheduled with the Mail Production center, with a suggested minimum of one week in advance. Please allow sufficient time for processing, depending on workload, quantity and service being performed.
Effective November 23, 2008 the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) requires all standard (nonprofit and regular bulk) mailings to undergo Move Update processing in order to qualify for standard mail postage rates. Please click here for ADDITIONAL INFORMATION on this new regulation and the new procedure when sending bulk mailings.
Effective March 2009, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) will require that all Nonprofit & Standard bulk mail flats must have the entire delivery address in the top half of the mail piece. For envelopes, the “top” is either of the shorter edges. For self-mailers (i.e. magazines), the “top” is the upper edge of the mailpiece when the bound or final folded edge is vertical and on the right side of the piece. Addresses may not read upside down, but can read right or left. Please see the below illustration.
In addition, mailers must also address all flat-size mailpieces using a minimum of 8-point type, Sans Serif font and preferably in all caps. The characters in the address must not overlap, the address lines must not touch or overlap, and each address element may be separated by no more than five blank character spaces.
