Declared Value vs. Insurance

Declared Value is NOT Insurance!  Declared Value is the maximum liability the carrier will accept in connection with your shipment for an additional fee.  Proper packaging and padding is required in order for the Declared Value to be valid upon submitting a claim.

Each carrier has definitive requirements and limitations on the maximum value liability that they will accept.  Each carrier sets a minimum value if no value is entered.

Information for each carrier is provided below as a courtesy.  Please contact the appropriate carrier for any questions regarding Declared Value.

Note:  The USPS uses the term “Insurance” but it is based upon the Declared Value amount provided in the shipment request made in Transtream.
